The Pērtnieki quarry is a former dolomite quarry that naturally filled with water after mining operations ended and was later transformed into fish ponds and a recreational area. Today, it is a scenic place with clean spring water, depths of up to 10 meters, and a natural environment suitable for fish farming.
“Pērtnieki” is a fish farm and recreation area in Latgale, where fresh and high-quality fish products from local production are available all year round. The company is engaged in fish farming, processing, and the production of smoked, salted, frozen, and canned fish products.
Special attention is given to the production of canned fish and pâtés made from their own farm-raised fish — carp, pike, and trout. The assortment includes more than 10 types of canned products that have received silver and gold quality awards in the “Novada Garša” competition.
The company’s main advantage is its full production cycle — from fish farming to the finished product in a jar. This ensures freshness, high quality, and control at every stage of production.
At Pērtnieki, trout, carp, grass carp, crucian carp, sturgeon, and other fish species are raised. The ponds were created in the territory of the former dolomite quarry and are supplied with natural spring water.
The area also offers:
-
recreation by the water;
-
fishing (temporarily closed);
-
gazebos and barbecue areas;
-
a children’s playground
The products can be purchased on-site, in stores across Latgale, in Riga, and in online shops.
